Sculptor, draughtsman and drypoint printmaker, Lacey was born in Bradford, Yorkshire and attended art school locally from the age of 19. Following service in the First World War he moved to London and attended the Slade School of Fine Art. Exhibiting from 1924 in London, Manchester and Glasgow and established a practice primarily as a portrait sculptor.
