Wageman was a successful and prolific portraitist, many of his subjects were drawings of Actors and Actresses. Much of his work was engraved and published in works such as "Dolby's British Theatre" and "Oxberry's Dramatic Biography" He was a founding member of the New Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1831.
